Job Description

The Duty Manager is the management presence on shift—coordinating Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and F&B to ensure seamless service, swift issue resolution, and strict adherence to Gewan standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Manager-on-Duty, handling guest concerns, VIP arrivals, and in-house incidents with professionalism.
  • Conduct property walk-throughs, inspecting public areas, back-of-house, and safety systems.
  • Liaise with department heads to resolve operational challenges and maintain service continuity.
  • Oversee late check-ins/outs, room moves, and billing adjustments; authorize service recovery gestures.
  • Coordinate emergency response—including first aid, evacuations, or security incidents—in line with hotel protocols.
  • Prepare detailed shift reports and handovers for senior leadership, highlighting guest feedback and maintenance issues.
  • Support night-audit balance checks, cash verification, and revenue postings when on overnight duty.
  • Mentor line colleagues, championing Gewan culture, grooming, and service standards.

Requirements

  • 3 + years’ supervisory experience in Front Office, Guest Relations, or Duty Management within upscale or luxury hotels.
  • Solid knowledge of hotel operations, emergency procedures, and guest-service recovery techniques.
  • Proficiency with PMS systems (Opera preferred) and basic finance/cash-handling.
  • Calm, decisive, and diplomatic—able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; ability to liaise effectively across departments.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
