BayView Restaurant is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. As a Commis Chef, you will work alongside experienced chefs to prepare high-quality dishes while learning and developing your culinary skills. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about cooking and eager to advance in the culinary arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes according to the restaurant’s menu and recipes.
- Support senior chefs in managing kitchen operations during busy periods, ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen environment.
- Ensure that all ingredients and kitchen tools are ready for use during preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including workstations, storage areas, and utensils.
- Assist in the plating and presentation of food to meet the restaurant’s standards.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to hygiene standards.
- Assist in inventory management, checking and receiving deliveries, and ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked.
- Participate in training and learning new cooking techniques, tools, and kitchen procedures.
- Handle basic cooking tasks, such as chopping, seasoning, and cooking ingredients, as directed by senior chefs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar kitchen position is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen tools.
- A genuine passion for cooking and eagerness to learn and develop culinary skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction from senior chefs.
- A culinary diploma or training is an advantage but not essential.
