BayView Restaurant is looking for an experienced and creative Mediterranean Chef to join our culinary team. The Mediterranean Chef will be responsible for designing and preparing authentic Mediterranean dishes, with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Mediterranean cuisine, a passion for culinary innovation, and the ability to lead a kitchen while maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare a variety of Mediterranean dishes, ensuring each dish meets BayView’s quality standards for flavor, presentation, and authenticity.
- Oversee the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations during service.
- Collaborate with the management team to create seasonal menus, incorporating fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are followed.
- Experiment with new ingredients, techniques, and recipes to innovate and keep the menu exciting for guests.
- Manage inventory, ensuring proper stock levels of ingredients and coordinating with suppliers to maintain freshness and quality.
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient delivery of orders and guest satisfaction.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
- Handle food costing, portion control, and waste management to maintain profitability while delivering quality dishes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mediterranean Chef or in a similar role, preferably in high-end or fine dining restaurants.
- Strong knowledge of Mediterranean cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and ingredients.
- Ability to create balanced and flavorful dishes with a focus on authenticity and presentation.
- Leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and handle busy service periods.
- A culinary degree or formal training in Mediterranean cuisine is preferred but not required.
